In 2009, I graduated with a PhD. in Acupuncture from the Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SDUTCM), Jinan, China, where I studied under Dr. Wu Fudong, who is the SDUTCM Chief of Acupuncture Studies and a leading neurological acupuncture expert in China. My clinical professor, Dr. Qizhi Shan, is the Chief Doctor in the Acupuncture Department of the SDUTCM Teaching Hospital and a top auricular acupuncture expert in China. I completed extensive studies in acupuncture, gynecology, neurology and tuina. During my time in China, I extensively studied and completed my PhD. classroom and clinical work in Chinese.

In 2007, I participated and completed training in the Treatment of Third World Diseases with TCM along with many doctors from around the world including Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Peru, Mexico, North Korea, Denmark, France and Japan.

In September 2008, upon returning from China, I organized and completed my doctoral clinical research study on “the effects of acupuncture in the treatment of perimenopausal symptoms” at the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) Roseville, Minnesota. The research was solely based in the area of acupuncture and its effectiveness on the symptoms that accompany the perimenopausal stage in women’s lives. The focus was on four areas of vasomotor, psychosomatic, physical and genital and urinary disorders based on TCM differentiation and including symptoms such as insomnia, palpitations, hot flashes, night sweating, emotional imbalances such as anxiety, irritability, depression, or headaches, fibromyalgia and vaginal dryness, incontinence, etc., and my research showed a dramatic 79% overall decrease in symptoms in the treatment group.

I am a Minnesota State Licensed Acupuncturist and Diplomate of Chinese Medicine from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). I hold a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from AAAOM and graduated in 2006. I am currently a professor at AAAOM and teach several classes, including Acupuncture Point Location, Meridians, TCM Pathology, Scalp Acupuncture and Auricular Acupuncture along with conducting clinical supervision and assisting Master’s Degree candidates in the student clinic.
